Whole lotta’ shakin’ goin’ on

Re 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake;

The Bible has much to say about earthquakes during the Great Tribulation. In an Old Testament there is a passage that may have something to do with the Great Tribulation also. In Numbers  16, we read about the rebellion of Korah. Korah wanted to be a priest, like Aaron. Moses told Korah to take censers and put fire and incense in them. Moses and Aaron then separated themselves from Korah and his followers. Then the ground opened up and swallowed Korah  and his followers.

Then the LORD told Aaron to take the censers of the men who sinned and hammer out a covering for the altar “…to be a memorial to the Children of Israel that no outsider, who is not a descendant of Aaron, should come near to offer incense before the LORD, that he might not become like Korah and his companions.

There is a church today that claims to be the true church because they have a priesthood – the Mormons. They claim a priesthood of Aaron, yet also claim, at least the Utah Mormons, to be from the Tribe of Ephraim, not Levi and not a descendent of Aaron..

I was stationed in Utah as a member of the US Air Force, and saw an article in the Salt Lake paper about a fault line that runs down the Wasatch Valley and down the middle of Temple Square. When my wife and I visited Temple Square one time, the visitor’s guide pointed to the flagpole in the center of Temple Square and said, “When the Mormons first arrived in the valley, Brigham Young was walking around the valley and he placed his cane on that very spot and announced, ‘This is where I will build my church’. We believe God led him to this very spot.” I don’t agree with the Mormons with a lot, but I could agree with that.

But, you say, there are other churches that have a priesthood – the Roman Catholic Church for example. The headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church is Rome, Italy. The fault lines in Italy are complex, but there is a major fault line running down the spine of Italy east of Rome, dividing Italy into an eastern half and a western half. In addition, there is another fault line just south of Rome. The two fault lines divide Italy into four sections and make mapping fracture lines difficult because they run all over, making Rome the most earthquake – prone city in the world.

The Eastern Orthodox or Orthodox Church was once headquartered in Constantinople. The city, now called Istanbul, is the home of the Orthodox Church. The Orthodox Church has a priesthood and Istanbul is home to the Chief Prelate of the Orthodox Church. The fault line of two plates, the Eurasian and the Anatolian plates, lies near the city of Istanbul.  Earthquake watchers have noticed a series of earthquakes of 5+ on the Richter Scale, slowly moving toward Istanbul.

All of this takes on significance when reading Zechariah 5:5-11. Zechariah sees a series of night visions, one of which is two women with wings of a stork taking an ephah to the plains of Shinar. Shinar is where Babylon is located. The ephah is a unit of commerce similar to a bushel. In the ehphah is a wicked woman. False religious systems are pictured as whores or wicked women in the Bible. The two women, who take the ephah to Shinar, are not angels, because they have wings of a stork. A stork is an unclean animal.

Why do the women take the ephah with the woman in it to Shinar? Are they forced to move their place of worship because of the earthquakes in the Last Days? Watch the news for further developments.
